For the last month Armenia has been actively preparing to join the CU. The agreement was signed by the CU members on May 29th 2014. It has already been ratified by two CU member states: Kazakhstan and Russia. A positive response is expected from Belarus: if the country ratifies the document in time, starting 2015 Armenia will become a rightful member of the EEU.

More on Armenia’s entry

It should be noted that Armenia has been preparing to enter the CU for the last year and a half: it has been adapting its economy to the requirements of the CU and optimizing its normative base. If Armenia enters the CU in the beginning of 2015, all the existing standards of the CU will be applied on its territory. For instance, quality control and certification in the country will be held in accordance with the technical regulations of the CU.
