We remind you that after the summit in the EU, where the President of the Russian Federation met quite a cold reception in connection with the situation in Ukraine, the import of pig meat and potatoes in the Russian Federation and Belarus was banned. In particular, only Belarus is refused from potatoes, but pork is banned in two countries.

Russia banned two weeks ago, but until today, according to Tonio Borsch, a member of the European Union on health, constructive negotiations on lifting the ban are not conducted. Restrictions were called unprecedented, because as it sees the European Union, they were introduced without serious grounds.

In late January in Lithuania, on the border with Belarus, were recorded two cases of African swine plague. The European Union has taken the necessary measures to prevent the epidemic. Information from Belarus or the Russian Federation, speaking about what they have been taken, such measures, is not reported.

Despite the fact that the animal plague cases found in a particular area of the community, the constraints affected all 28 countries of the European Union. Negotiations with Russia on the blockading the delivery only on territory in which there were cases of plague have not been successful. Strict measures have adversely affected on the economic condition of entrepreneurs of European Union, which is understandable: the Russian Federation bought quarter of all pork, which is produced in the EU. The European Union expresses dissatisfaction and calls such measures as contradicting the principles of trade and disproportionate.

Belarus explained the ban on meat from the European Union by saying that it does not meet veterinary certificates. Ban on potatoes from European Union were introduced at the request of the Russian Federation, according to representatives of the Belarusian side.
